*We will continue working in our percent unit this week and look at percent application problems. We have a Chapter 6 quiz on Tuesday and a chart quiz on Wednesday, Feb. 5th. The chart quiz is a memorization quiz of fraction, decimal, and percent equivalences for nine frequently used conversions. There are practice quizzes on Google Classroom and we took a practice quiz Monday so they could see how much they needed to study.
*Our weekly CRs require students to review previously taught concepts. They are NOT to use the calculator unless it was a skill we learned with a calculator. Many students are losing lots of points each week because they continue to NOT show their work. Please encourage your child to put forth their best effort on this important weekly assignment.

*Chart Quiz ~ Wednesday, Feb. 5th
*We will begin our percent, fraction, and decimal unit this week. This is a challenging unit and the final test is heavy with problem-solving questions which can be difficult for most students. The students filled out a fraction, decimal, percent equivalence chart that needs to be memorized for a quiz next week. I will post the chart and some practice quizzes to google classroom for them to use as a resource.
*No quizzes or tests this week.
*POTW #1 - due Monday, February 3rd. I forgot to post the POTW on Friday, but it is on the blog today.
*We will review for our Chapter 4 Test this week. Our unit test will be Friday, January 24th. I will have a study session on Thursday morning at 7;30. HERE is the hall pass if you should need it to attend.

*POTW #1 (Extra Credit) will be posted by Friday, Jan. 24th
*Hope everyone had a great holiday break! It has been a busy first week back for sure! We took our quiz today on Chapter 4. We will begin looking at applying proportional reasoning to similar triangles and scale drawings this week. No quizzes or tests this week but our Chapter 4 Unit Test will be the following week.
*No CR this week due to testing and the upcoming holiday weekend.
* We will begin our ratio/proportion unit this week. The students will be given back their calculator and we will use them daily. They will be able to use them on homework, quizzes, and tests. There is a restricted use on weekly CRs because many of the skills on the CR were taught without the calculator. We will cover ratios, unit rates, and ratio tables this week.
* No quizzes or tests this week.
*All make-up work is due by Wednesday, Dec. 18th
*We will solve inequalities this week and prepare for our final test of the nine weeks. The Equations/Inequalities Test will be on Friday, December 13th. There will be a study session on Thursday, December 12th at 7:30 AM. Click HERE to get a pass for the study session. The following week we will begin ratios and proportions.
*Equations/Inequalities Test ~ Friday, December 13th
*POTW #3 (Extra Credit) was posted today and will be due on Monday, December 16th.
*I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! We have only 3 weeks left in the nine weeks so it will be a busy end of the nine weeks.
*We will review one-step equations at the beginning of the week then review for our equations quiz that will be on Thursday, Dec. 5th. We will begin inequalities on Friday. Most of the students are doing well with showing their steps on equations, but I will continue to remind the students this week how important these steps are in solving more complex equations later in the year. Points will be deducted on the quiz if the work is not shown on both sides of the equations and it does not justify the answer.
*Equations Quiz ~ Thursday, December 5th
**Check INOW periodically for 0.01 codes that can be made up for partial credit by Wednesday, December 18th.
*POTW #3 will be posted by Friday, December 6th and due next Friday, December 13th.
